It is true that many people nowadays do not fully understand the significance of nature to the existence of human beings. While this worrying trend can be justified for several reasons, a couple of measures can be taken to raise the awareness of the public.

The public’s low awareness of the significance of nature can be attributed to two reasons. First, many people find it unnecessary to obtain knowledge of the planet. While prehistoric people were dependent on their surroundings to survive, people nowadays live in man-made environments where they can satisfy their basic demands including food, weather, and clothes without direct contact with the natural world. Furthermore, people’s lack of comprehension about nature can be attributed to education systems which place excessive emphasis on academic disciplines. Students today spend most of their time studying academic subjects such as Mathematics but rarely have a field trip to get close to nature.
However, there are a number of solutions to tackle this problem. First, local governments should incorporate larger green spaces into cities by lining streets with trees or building more parks in residential areas. As citizens have more chances to come into contact with nature on a daily basis, they tend to develop a greater appreciation for what the natural world brings to them. Additionally, children should be educated about the importance of nature at school. Subjects on this matter should be made compulsory in school curriculums. Being exposed to visual inputs such as documentaries and videos, students will be aware of various aspects of nature as well as environmental issues such as climate change and animal extinction.

Có một sự thật rằng ngày nay nhiều người chưa hiểu hết tầm quan trọng của thiên nhiên đối với sự tồn tại của con người. Trong khi xu hướng đáng lo ngại này có thể được biện minh vì một số lý do, một số biện pháp có thể được thực hiện để nâng cao nhận thức của công chúng.
Nhận thức thấp của công chúng về tầm quan trọng của thiên nhiên có thể do hai lý do. Đầu tiên, nhiều người thấy không cần thiết phải có kiến thức về hành tinh. Trong khi người tiền sử phụ thuộc vào môi trường xung quanh để tồn tại, con người ngày nay sống trong môi trường nhân tạo, nơi họ có thể đáp ứng các nhu cầu cơ bản của họ bao gồm thức ăn, thời tiết và quần áo mà không cần tiếp xúc trực tiếp với thế giới tự nhiên.
Hơn nữa, sự thiếu hiểu biết của mọi người về tự nhiên có thể là do hệ thống giáo dục quá chú trọng vào các ngành học. Học sinh ngày nay dành phần lớn thời gian cho việc học các môn học thuật như Toán học mà ít khi được đi thực tế để gần gũi với thiên nhiên.
Tuy nhiên, có một số giải pháp để giải quyết vấn đề này. Đầu tiên, các chính quyền địa phương nên kết hợp các không gian xanh lớn hơn vào các thành phố bằng cách trồng các đường phố bằng cây xanh hoặc xây dựng nhiều công viên hơn trong các khu dân cư. Khi công dân có nhiều cơ hội tiếp xúc với thiên nhiên hàng ngày, họ có xu hướng đánh giá cao hơn những gì thế giới tự nhiên mang lại cho họ.
Ngoài ra, trẻ em cần được giáo dục về tầm quan trọng của thiên nhiên ở trường. Các môn học về vấn đề này nên được đưa vào chương trình giảng dạy ở trường. Được tiếp xúc với các đầu vào trực quan như phim tài liệu và video, học sinh sẽ nhận thức được các khía cạnh khác nhau của tự nhiên cũng như các vấn đề môi trường như biến đổi khí hậu và sự tuyệt chủng của động vật.
Tóm lại, mặc dù việc thiếu hiểu biết về thiên nhiên là do một số yếu tố gây ra, nhưng việc tiếp xúc nhiều hơn với không gian xanh và giáo dục những người học trẻ tuổi có thể giúp họ cải thiện tình hình.
