1. Từ vựng tiếng anh về tính cách – adjectives to describe introversion and extroversion (tính từ mổ tả tính cách hướng nội và hướng ngoại)
Introvert (người hướng nội)
- Be reserved: do not often talk about or show their feelings or thoughts (ít nói, dè dặt)
- Be laid-back: relaxed in manner and character; not usually worried about other people’s behaviour or things that need to be done (thong thả, ung dung)
- Be unapproachable: unfriendly or a little frightening, so that other people are less likely to speak to them (khó gần)

Extrovert (Người hướng ngoại)
- Be outgoing: friendly and energetic and finding it easy and enjoyable to be with others (vui vẻ, hoà đồng)
- Be fun-loving: liking to enjoy yourself and have fun rather than liking serious things (ham vui, ham chơi)
- Be the life and soul of the party: someone who is energetic and funny and at the centre of activity during social occasions (linh hồn/ trung tâm của tiệc tùng)
- Be chatty/ talkative: liking to talk a lot in a friendly, informal way (nói nhiều, thích chuyện trò)
- Be approachable: friendly and easy to talk to (dễ gần)
2. Từ vựng tiếng anh về tính cách – Pairs of contrasting adjectives to describe personality (những cặp từ trái nghĩa mô tả tính cách)
Positive (Tích cực)
- Be broad-minded: willing to accept many different types of behaviour, beliefs, or choices in other people (tư tưởng rộng mở, thoáng)
- Be confident: being certain of your abilities or having trust in people, plans, or the future (tự tin)
- Be honest: telling the truth or able to be trusted and not likely to steal, cheat, or lie (thật thà)
- Be sincere: not pretending or lying; honest (chân thành)
- Be thin-skinned: easily hurt by criticism or easily made unhappy (nhạy cảm, dễ tổn thương)
- Be calm: peaceful, quiet, and without worry (bình tĩnh)
- Be innocent: having no knowledge of the unpleasant and evil things in life (hồn nhiên)
- Be thrifty/ frugal: careful when using money or food, or (of a meal) cheap or small in amount (tiết kiệm, biết cách chi tiêu)
- Be courteous: polite and showing respect (nhã nhặn, lịch sự)
- Be insightful: showing a clear and usually original understanding of a complicated problem or situation (sâu sắc, thấu đáo)
- Be modest/ humble: not proud or not believing that you are important (khiêm nhường, khiêm tốn)
- Be resolute: determined in character, action, or ideas (kiên quyết, quyết tâm)

Negative (Tiêu cực)
- Be narrow-minded: not willing to accept ideas or ways of behaving that are different from your own (tư tưởng hẹp hòi)
- Be diffident: shy and not confident of your abilities
- Be dishonest: not telling the truth or able to be trusted and not likely to steal, cheat, or lie (dối trá)
- Be insincere: pretending or lying; honest (giả dối, không chân thành)
- Be thick-skinned: Someone who is thick-skinned does not appear to be easily hurt by criticism (mặt dày, không dễ bị tổn thương)
- To lose one’s temper: become angry (nổi cáu, nổi giận)
(ADJ: Quick-tempered)
- Be naive: too willing to believe that someone is telling the truth, that people’s intentions, in general, are good, or that life is simple and fair (khờ dại, ngô nghê)
- Be mean/ cheap/ tight-fisted/ stingy: unwilling to spend money; small in amount (ki bo, kiệt xỉ)
- Be sharp-tongued: to be someone who often criticizes and speaks in a severe way (miệng lưỡi có gai)
- Be superficial: never thinking about things that are serious or important (hời hợt, nông cạn)
- Be conceited/ Self-important / Arrogant: thinking that you are more important or valuable than other people (tự kiêu, cao ngạo)
- Be obstinate/ pig-headed: showing unreasonable support for an opinion or plan of action and refusing to change or listen to different opinions (cứng đầu cứng cổ)
3. Từ vựng tiếng anh về tính cách – other adjectives to describe positive personality (những từ khác mô tả về tính cách tích cực)
- Be optimistic: being full of hope and emphasizing the good parts of a situation, or a belief that something good will happen (lạc quan)
- Be glass-half-full = be optimistic
- To look on the bright side: to find good things in a bad situation (tích cực, suy nghĩ tích cực trong tình huống khó khăn)
- Be easy-going: relaxed and not easily upset or worried (dễ tính)
- To bend over backwards: to try very hard to do something good or helpful (tốt bụng, giúp đỡ mọi người)
- Be diligent/ industrious: be hard-working (chăm chỉ, cần mẫn)
- Be restless: unwilling or unable to stay still or to be quiet and calm, because you are worried or bored (không thấy an tâm, khắc khoải lo lắng)
- Be altruistic: be willing to do things that bring advantages to others, even if it results in disadvantage for yourself (vị tha)
- Be tolerant: be willing to accept behaviour and beliefs that are different from your own, although you might not agree with or approve of them (bao dung, tha thứ)
- Be selfless: caring more for what other people need and want rather than for what you yourself need and want (cái tôi nhỏ, biết quan tâm tới mọi người hơn chính bản thân mình)
- Be down-to-earth: friendly, practical (người thực tế, khôn ngoan)
- Be grateful/ indebted (to smb): showing or expressing thanks, especially to another person (biết ơn ai/ cảm thấy mắc nợ ai vì họ đã giúp mình)
- Perseverance: continued effort to do or achieve something, even when this is difficult or takes a long time (sự kiên trì, bền bỉ)
- A perfectionist: a person who wants everything to be perfect and demands the highest standards possible (người cầu toàn)
4. Từ vựng tiếng anh về tính cách – Other adjectives to describe negative personality (những tính từ khác mô tả về tính cách tiêu cực)
- Be pessimistic: thinking that bad things are more likely to happen or emphasizing the bad part of a situation ( bi quan)
- Be two-faced: saying unpleasant things about you to other people while seeming to be pleasant when they are with you (hai mặt)
- To speak ill of smb: to say unkind things about someone (gở mồm, nói điều không hay)
- Be tactless: not careful about saying or doing something that could upset someone (không khéo ăn nói, ăn nói khó nghe)
- Be cunny/ sly: clever at planning something so that they get what they want, especially by tricking other people, or things that are cleverly made for a particular purpose (xảo quyệt)
- Be pushy: behaving in an unpleasant way by trying too much to get something or to make someone do something (dồn ép, đòi hỏi)
- Be intolerant: disapproving of or refusing to accept ideas or ways of behaving that are different from your own (không bao dung, không tha thứ/ chấp nhận)
- Be selfish: someone who is selfish only thinks of their own advantage (ích kỷ)
- Be self-centred: only interested in yourself and your own activities (chỉ quan tâm việc làm của mình)
- Be brutal/ cruel/ callous: unkind, cruel, and without sympathy or feeling for other people
- Be fainthearted (đứng trước Danh từ): someone who is fainthearted is not confident or brave and dislikes taking unnecessary risks (người yếu đuối, yếu tâm lý)
5. Từ vựng tiếng anh về tính cách – Idioms (Thành ngữ)
- To look at/see sth through rose-coloured/rose-tinted glasses: to see only the pleasant things about a situation and not notice the things that are unpleasant (nhìn đời bằng con mắt màu hồng)
- To bite off more than you can chew: to try to do something that is too difficult for you or involves too much work (Cố quá, quá cố)
- Your eyes are bigger than your stomach: this is said to a person who has put too much food on their plate and cannot eat it all (No bụng, đói con mắt)
- To bite your tongue: to stop yourself from saying something that might upset someone or make them angry (giữ mồm, giữ miệng, tránh nói năng linh tinh)
- To straighten up: improve behavior (chỉnh đốn hành vi, cư xử)
- To put yourself in sb’s place/position/shoes: to imagine how someone else feels in a difficult situation (biết đặt mình vào hoàn cảnh của người khác để hiểu, cảm thông)
- To stand out (from the rest/ crowd): to be much better than other similar things or people (nổi bật giữa đám đông)
- To pull one’s weight: to work as hard as other people in a group (bỏ công sức ngang với các thành viên khác)
- The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree: a child usually has a similar character or similar qualities to his or her parents (con nhà tông không giống lông cũng giống cánh)
