It’s my mother. She’s now in middle sixties, but she looks quite young for her age. Everyone says that she’s a petite woman with sun-tanned skin and a shiny smile. |
| What she is like | She’s very hard-working. Just a few years ago, she got up at breaking dawn and worked until dusk to get enough money for my education. However hard she worked, we were always a hard-up family, our income was always at subsistence level. It meant that when a member got sick and was hospitalized, we had to borrow money from others and paid off later. |

My mother has set several good examples of behaviors so that l can learn and become mature.
The first thing she’s ingrained in me is kindness. Since I was a child, I have seen her doing small but warm-hearted things for people around her. For example, she made some dishes for both my families and some neighbors, and she waited until they got home and gave them the dishes. Needless to say, the neighbors were so touched, and they always complimented on my mother’s great cooking. Another negative of her that I can imitate is her attention to details. This ranges from the way she chooses the right words to say so that people always feel respected to the way she puts her heart and soul in the dishes and some handmade items she makes. For example, she always selects the best ingredients to make sure the dish is perfect. She can get up very early to go the market to get fresh vegetables and meat and spend hours on elaborate preparations later. |
